Map of Rome
Rome’s food life is best explored one neighbourhood at a time. The guided food tours listed in this guide run in Trastevere, across the Tiber from the old centre, around Campo de’ Fiori near Piazza Navona, and in the Trionfale market in the Prati district, a short walk from the Vatican Museums. They last three to four hours and cost about 90 to 99 euros per adult.
Practical notes
- The Trionfale market is close to the Cipro and Ottaviano stations of metro line A.
- Tram 8 runs from the centre to Trastevere.
- Classic Roman dishes to look out for: supplì (fried rice balls), pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice), carbonara, cacio e pepe and, in the Jewish quarter, artichokes alla giudia.
