Seafood

Seafood festivals take place close to the boats, oyster beds and crawfish ponds that supply them, with menus that follow the local catch.

Spring opens with the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival in Louisiana, at the turn of April and May, a weekend of crawfish dishes and Cajun culture. The Maine Lobster Festival follows in early August at Harbor Park in Rockland, and Wellfleet OysterFest closes the season on Cape Cod in October, with shellfish served by the people who harvest it. Food tours in New Orleans and pintxo tours in San Sebastián bring seafood into a city walk. At outdoor festivals the lines at the best-known stands grow through the day: arrive at opening, and bring warm layers for a coastal weekend in autumn.
