Paseo Federal
The 18 departments of the province show their culture and their flavours.
Calle Arístides
The street’s anniversary, on the vendimia calendar, brings nightlife, food and shows to a street of Mendoza.
Asado and empanadas
Argentine grilled meats and baked pastries.
Mendoza’s Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia ends each year in an open-air theatre in the Parque General San Martín, where more than 1,000 artists take the stage and a national harvest queen is chosen. The province calls it a celebration unique in the world, a tribute to the thousands of women and men who work in its wine industry.
From the first vines to the Greek theatre
Mendoza Tourism tells the history in four steps.
- 16th century: missionaries bring the first vines to the Cuyo region.
- Over the centuries: the harvest becomes a popular celebration, with food, music and a symbolic queen.
- 1936: the festival is made official.
- 1940: the architect Daniel Ramos Correas designs the Teatro Griego, named after Frank Romero Day, the agronomist who drove the first official festival.
The 2027 edition pays tribute to the centenary of the folk group Los Trovadores de Cuyo and to the singer “Pocho” Sosa, the press reports.
Wine and food around the Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia parades
The parades and the show take the spotlight, so the food is found around them, across a season of events.
- Fiesta Provincial de la Flor de la Vid: in San Rafael, the official opening of the provincial calendar, with wine, regional food and music, paid entry.
- Semana Federal: a week of live music, food, crafts and local businesses, free.
- Rally de las Bodegas: classic cars, wine and landscapes.
Coronitas and the Virgin of the vineyards
Two figures belong to the festival’s images, says Mendoza Tourism.
- The Virgen de la Carrodilla: patron of the vineyards, at the heart of the Bendición de los Frutos.
- The coronitas: girls and boys in party crowns who imitate the queen at the Carrusel and the Vía Blanca.
