Map of Victoria
Victoria is a state in the south-east of mainland Australia, facing Bass Strait and Tasmania, with Melbourne as its capital. It is small by Australian standards. Its food and wine country includes the Yarra Valley to the east, known for its cool-climate wines, and the Mornington Peninsula to the south, between Port Phillip Bay and Western Port.
The state’s food festival in this guide is the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. The 2026 edition ran from 20 to 29 March, with 200 events, according to the Victorian government, and the festival has been part of Melbourne’s events calendar for more than 30 years. The 2027 dates had not been published on 6 October 2026.
In the Yarra Valley, five estates compared in this guide pour cellar door tastings for 15 to 30 Australian dollars (October 2026). Healesville is one of the valley’s towns.
