Map of Sorges
Sorges is a village of the Périgord, in the Dordogne department, north-east of Périgueux. Since its merger with the neighbouring commune of Ligueux, its official name is Sorges-et-Ligueux-en-Périgord. The village is known for the black truffle of the Périgord, harvested in winter from oak woods and truffle orchards, and it has a museum devoted to it, the Écomusée de la Truffe, on the route des truffières.
Its truffle festival, Truffes en Folie, is held in winter. The 2026 edition, the 37th Fête de la Truffe, ran from Wednesday 28 January to Sunday 1 February 2026, according to the Écomusée. The Dordogne tourist board calls Sorges “the truffle capital of the Périgord”. The 2027 dates had not been published on 6 October 2026.
