Map of Dublin

Dublin is Ireland’s capital, on the River Liffey where it meets Dublin Bay. Guinness has been brewed at St. James’s Gate, west of the centre, since 1759, and whiskey distilling has come back to the city in recent years.

Three visits are compared in this guide. The Guinness Storehouse sells its standard ticket from 24 euros per person on its booking page (its FAQ gives 26 euros as the usual adult starting price), for a self-guided visit of about 90 minutes. The Teeling Whiskey Distillery charges 22 euros for a guided tour of about 45 minutes with a tasting, and the Irish Whiskey Museum 23 euros per adult for a one-hour guided tour with three tastings.

Practical notes

  • The Storehouse is in the Liberties, an old district west of the centre.
  • Prices at the Storehouse vary with the date and time of the visit: check when you book.
