Map of Haro
Haro is a small town in the north-west of La Rioja, near the Ebro, and one of the capitals of Rioja wine. Many of its historic bodegas stand together in the Barrio de la Estación, the district by the railway station.
Bodegas Muga, on Avenida Vizcaya in the Barrio de la Estación, runs a 90-minute guided tour with two wines for 30 euros, in Spanish and English. Children under 12 are not admitted. Bodegas Manzanos, on Calle Prim, runs a two-hour tour with five wines for 35 euros per adult, at 11 am in Spanish and 3:30 pm in English. Booked together, the two tours make a full day in Haro for 65 euros per adult.
Practical notes
- Haro’s railway station makes the town reachable without a car.
- Rioja Alavesa, with Elciego and Laguardia, lies to the east: Marqués de Riscal and Eguren Ugarte are there.
- Tempranillo is the main grape of Rioja’s red wines.
