Map of Temecula

Temecula is a city in south-western Riverside County, in Southern California, inland between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its wine country lies east of the city centre, and most of the wineries in this guide line Rancho California Road: Wilson Creek, Callaway and Ponte, with the Halter Ranch tasting room at 41300 Ave Biona.

A tasting costs 30 to 35 dollars per adult, with six pours at Wilson Creek and Ponte. Callaway is the one winery here with a priced tour that includes a tasting, at 40 dollars.

Practical notes

  • Wilson Creek takes no reservations. For the others, check the winery’s booking rules.
  • The legal drinking age in the United States is 21. Ponte’s tasting rooms are for guests of 21 and over.
  • San Diego and Ontario have the nearest large airports. There is no passenger train to Temecula: plan on a car and a driver who skips the tastings.
