Food festivals in New Orleans, month by month
New Orleans, on a bend of the Mississippi, is the home of Creole cooking. Its oldest district, the French Quarter, hosts the French Quarter Festival every April. The 2027 edition is set for 8 to 11 April 2027 and is free to attend. The festival’s food booths stand at Jackson Square, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, the JAX Lot and the Jazz Museum.
Each June, NOWFE Week, the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, brings hundreds of wineries and restaurants together for tastings and dinners that raise money for local non-profits: 9 to 13 June 2027. Its Grand Tasting cost $165 in general admission in 2026.
Practical notes
- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is west of the city.
- The streetcar lines along the riverfront and Canal Street run at the edge of the French Quarter.
- Dishes to try in the city: gumbo, jambalaya, po’boy sandwiches, red beans and rice, and beignets, the square fried doughnuts dusted with sugar.
