How the visit runs

What to taste

  • Cicchetti

The small bites of the bacari, on Eating Europe’s Greatest Hits tour. Cook in Venice builds its whole tour around them.

  • Risotto

On the menu of Eating Europe’s Greatest Hits tour, with the city’s classic dishes.

  • Ombra

A small glass of wine, poured with cicchetti in the osterie.

Food tours in Venice are a crawl through its bacari, the wine bars where cicchetti, small bites, are eaten at the counter. Two operators publish an adult price, 79 and 99.99 euros, for two to three and a half hours, and a third sells the guide alone.

Four districts, or the guide alone

  • The short tour: Eating Europe’s Greatest Hits crosses four districts: San Polo, San Marco, Castello and Cannaregio.
  • The guide only: Cook in Venice takes 2 to 8 people for 3 hours.

Because the guide-only price leaves the food out, Cook in Venice is not part of the 79 to 99.99 euro range: compare it on the total, not on the headline.

A price to set aside

Devour Tours also runs a Venice food tour, but its page shows “from $354” in US dollars, without an adult label, most likely for a private tour.

For two adults, the published prices add up to 158 euros with Eating Europe and 199.98 euros plus the booking fee with Secret Food Tours.
