Map of Perugia
Perugia, the capital of Umbria, is a hilltop city whose medieval centre sits well above its railway station. Each November it hosts Eurochocolate, the international chocolate festival, in the streets and squares of the historic centre. The 2026 edition is announced for 13 to 22 November 2026. The 2025 edition, the festival’s 31st, ran from 14 to 23 November 2025 with free entry.
Practical notes
- The Minimetrò, an automated cable-driven shuttle, links the Pian di Massiano car park and the station area to the edge of the historic centre.
- Much of the historic centre is a restricted traffic zone: leave the car in a car park below and walk or ride up.
- Staying in the centre puts you within walking distance of the festival. The station area is a cheaper base, linked by the Minimetrò.
