Map of Peso da Régua
Peso da Régua is a town on the Douro river, in the heart of the Douro wine region, upriver from Porto. It is a common base for visiting the quintas, the wine estates of the valley, whose terraced vineyards climb the slopes on both sides of the river.
The three quintas compared in this guide run guided tours with tasting for 26 to 42 euros per adult, each lasting about 90 minutes. Quinta do Crasto is in Gouvinhas, in the municipality of Sabrosa. Quinta da Pacheca and Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo also take visitors. Pacheca’s tour, at 26 euros, is the cheapest of the three.
