Knutsford is a market town in Cheshire, south-west of Manchester. On its northern edge lies Tatton Park, a historic estate with a mansion, formal gardens and a deer park. In 2027 the Foodies Festival stops at Tatton Park from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 July.

Practical notes

  • Knutsford has a railway station on the line to Manchester.

On the tour

Tatton Park is the one stop of the 2027 tour in the north-west of England, a week before Winchester. It is also the first stage after the five-week pause that follows St Albans.

What to see and eat in Knutsford

Knutsford is the town Elizabeth Gaskell used as the model for Cranford, and its centre keeps its old streets and pubs. Tatton Park, on its northern edge, has a mansion, formal gardens and a deer park. Cheshire, the county around it, gives its name to Cheshire cheese, a crumbly cow’s milk cheese, and is dairy country.

Where to stay

Knutsford has hotels and inns close to the estate. Manchester, north-east of the town, has many more, a short train or car ride away.
