Map of Glasgow
Glasgow, on the River Clyde, is known for its Victorian architecture, its museums and its music venues. In 2027 the Foodies Festival stops here from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 August, one week after the Edinburgh stage.
Practical notes
- Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations are in the centre, with trains to Edinburgh.
- Glasgow Airport is west of the city.
On the tour
Glasgow is the eighth stop. Two weeks later the tour ends in Oxford, from 28 to 30 August 2027.
What to see and eat in Glasgow
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is free to enter, and the Riverside Museum stands on the Clyde waterfront. The West End, around Byres Road, has many of the city’s restaurants and cafés. Glasgow’s food runs from Scottish classics to curry houses. The chicken tikka masala is often said to have been created in the city, a claim others dispute.
Where to stay
The city centre, around the two main stations, and the West End, linked to it by the Subway, are the practical bases. Loch Lomond, north-west of the city, is a day trip.
