Scotland has two stops on the 2027 Foodies Festival tour, one week apart: Edinburgh, from 6 to 8 August, and Glasgow, from 13 to 15 August. The two cities are linked by train, so one trip can cover both weekends.

Good to know

August in Edinburgh is also the month of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Edinburgh International Festival, so the Foodies stage shares the city with them. Glasgow, host of the next stage, is the other base for a Scottish week.

What to eat and drink

Scotland’s larder is built on its coast and its hills: salmon and smoked salmon, langoustines, mussels and scallops from the sea lochs, Aberdeen Angus beef, lamb, and oats in porridge and oatcakes. Haggis with neeps and tatties is the national dish, and Cullen skink, a soup of smoked haddock, potato and onion, comes from the north-east coast. Single malt whisky is made by distilleries across the country, from Speyside to Islay.

Getting to Scotland

Edinburgh and Glasgow both have airports with flights from the rest of Europe, and trains from London King’s Cross and London Euston reach them in about four and a half hours.
