The Cannstatter Volksfest is Stuttgart’s autumn folk festival, held on the Cannstatter Wasen, the festival ground on the Neckar in the Bad Cannstatt district. In 2027 it runs for the 180th time, from Friday 24 September to Sunday 10 October, and entry is free. It is organised by in.Stuttgart, the city’s events company.

Harvest festival roots, beer tent present

Beside the rides, the organiser lists “a wide range of food and drink options, including eight beer tents, the Albdorf, countless beer gardens, snack bars, and candy stands”. The roots are agricultural: the Fruchtsäule, the fruit column on the ground, commemorates the festival’s origins as a harvest festival.
